Sister Night

For those who haven't heard, the Novak girls are having a sister night. That includes Laura and Lindsey-just because their last name isn't Novak doesn't mean they aren't a Novak sister. We obviously have to do this on a day when all the sisters will be able to. Right now, that's looking like the weekend before my wedding. Theresa doesn't come back until the 4th, and Matt and Laura won't be in town until the 11th or thereabouts. Matt, you are both coming a full week before the wedding, right? I want to do the sister night before the wedding because I think after will be very busy for everybody, what with a small honeymoon and then school starting (or already begun) for most people by the time Eric and I get back, not to mention Laura will be back in D.C. So, I'm thinking the Sunday before the wedding, that would be the 12th for those of you who can't figure it out. We're going to go mini-golfing and maybe do bumper boats at Lili Putt. Everybody, especially Clara, is super excited for this, so if there are any scheduling (or other) problems, please let me know. I know it will probably be difficult to get all, what, 10 of us together at a time but I think we can do it. Wow, there's a lot of Novak girls now. Go us.

And its only cos you came here with your brothers too

Invites

That's all I've been doing for what feels like the past week straight. Seriously though, I'm pretty sure I've put over 8 hours into those invites, and that was with some help. I am a little annoyed at my family though, who I practically had to beg to help me and even then the only people who helped me were Melinda, Maria, and Molly, and each for about 20 minutes. I am very grateful for those people who helped me a lot, namely, Erica and Alan. Eric hardly even did anything because he was a baby about his handwriting. And then, when I got crabby, and said it was my first "Bridezilla" moment, everybody felt that they could make fun of me and act like my crabbiness and annoyance is no big deal. Grrr. It's really the only thing I've needed help with, and I didn't get much from the people who are supposed to help the most, my family. At least I got help though. If I hadn't had any help, the invitations probably wouldn't be ready to send out tomorrow, which they are. I spent a small fortune on stamps too. Plus I realize now that I probably should have just bought a couple hundred more for thank you's. That would have been too many, but then Eric and I would have "left-overs". Well, when we actually have to write and send out thank you's, then I'll go buy a bunch. I'm way more excited than I realized to send them out and to start getting rsvp's. I was thinking about it when I went to bed last night, and it perked me up a little. And with today 2 months until the wedding, it's a good time to get them out.

This weekend we have to cram in even more wedding plans, especially cake. We still have not gotten that taken care of, even though we planned to do it 3 weeks ago. Things just keep coming up that are either more convienent or more important, or we just haven't been around. We have to do it this weekend though, otherwise I'm worried we won't be able to have a cake! I know we'll be able to, but we need to get it taken care of otherwise it's just going to get more complicated. However, we also have multiple other things going on this weekend. Eric's birthday is Saturday; so is Dani's shower so most of the day we won't even be around. Plus Friday night we have our first meeting with our mentor couple which will be a good chunk of the evening I'm sure. I'm sortof looking forward to that, sortof nervous for it, and sortof want to to get it over with. It's taken so long for us to get it set up. I hope it goes well, and I hope we don't have to have too many meetings with them before we cover everything we're supposed to.

Countdown-2 months, or 61 days until the wedding!

I don't think that it can be done without you.

Shower

Had my shower this past Saturday, which I'm sure everybody who reads my blog already knew. It went really well. I had a good time, although it was warm and I didn't get to move around much so I got a little uncomfortable occasionally but that's ok. We played some games, I chatted with a lot of people, opened wonderful gifts (which I still need to write thank-you's for) and had some delicious food. The way my aunt did it was really fun too-everybody brought a spice that started with the letter of their name and a recipe that has that spice in it, so now I have a ton of spices which is really exciting since I love to cook! The recipes look great too, and I got some that I really wanted to have, such as the beef stroganoff recipe and this salad my Gramma makes, which she also brought-yummy! I can't wait to try out my recipes! One of the games we played was sortof silly, and I ended up with this ginormous wad of gum in my mouth because of it. Eric was asked some questions well before the shower, some about me and some about him, and I had to match my answer with his. If I got it wrong I had to chew a piece of gum. Actually, about the first 10 I answered exactly right, and then I started doing very poorly. It was somewhat unfair though-one or two Eric didn't know the answers for and obviously I did, so if he got them wrong and I didn't match whatever he said (even though my answer was the correct one) I still had to chew gum. One of them he purposely gave an answer that I could not ever have known just to be a butthead. Oh well, it was a fun game, and I think people were kindof impressed that I knew so many and that I could stand that much gum in my mouth for so long! I had the taste of it in my mouth though until we ate, which was after gifts and that took a long time. Speaking of, wow, I got a lot of really awesome and useful gifts that I'm so excited to use in my apartment! We only had to take one thing back and that was because it was a duplicate. It was a really good time and it was fun to celebrate with my relatives and some of Eric's who will soon be mine too.

Onto other wedding stuff-Eric and I started our invites. We printed the actual invites on Sunday at Gina and Josh's, as well as our rsvp's which all got smudged somehow so we have to reprint those. We also have to print directions and one other thing and then this weekend we'll put everything together, address them, and send them. Anyone want to help? Erica came over last night and is coming over again to do the actual making of the invites, the punching and stamping and gluing, but she'll be gone this weekend until August so sadly she can't come over the weekend. Seriously, if you have nice handwriting or don't mind stamping or sealing envelopes, let me know, Eric and I would be glad to have the help and the company.

Finally, whoever wants to join the Brothers Karamazov reading group, we will be getting together this Friday it looks like, sometime in the evening after the golf tournament is done. Read through chapter five, and it might help if you write down the main characters or names of the characters and maybe a short description to help you keep track of them. I'm definitely looking forward to this; it should be really fun. So far we have Eric Peterson, Eric Famoso, mom, and me, but we welcome anyone so please feel free to join!

A couple drops and they all start coming down

Oofta

Isn't summer supposed to be a time to relax? I'm finding it to be the opposite. Seriously, I think I had more free time during the school year. Work obviously takes up 40 hours of my week but since that's plenty I don't feel the need to really talk about it at all. Eric and I unfortunately get to see each other only on weekends, and we really need to start doing more wedding stuff but we have to cover a whole week's worth of not seeing each other and then we've also been trying to hang out with Alan and Erica since we don't see them very much during the school year and Erica will be leaving for Pennsylvania to work at a camp next Friday.

Onto wedding plans-Eric and I picked out our readings which almost was a problem because we both liked a different second reading, but since it really isn't a huge deal and neither of them sucked as much as one of the others, we just decided to go with the one Eric liked better. Honestly, it really isn't a big deal-at the end of the day we'll be married and that's what's really important. Fighting over a reading isn't. Surprisingly, we haven't been fighting about wedding stuff as much as I thought we would, since we have such different tastes in things. We even have the same general idea for decorations which makes me very happy. And cake too, which we will hopefully be taking care of this weekend, along with printing invitations/rsvp's/directions and whatnot. I think we'll do that on Sunday since Gina and Josh said we can use their laser printer and that's really the only day they'll be around this weekend. That still works, right Gina? What time is good? I like how I sometimes use this to communicate with people. Speaking of which-Megan, I'm hoping you keep your promise and are reading this regularly. In case you want to comment (which I hope you do) just because you don't have a blog does not mean you can't comment-you can comment as an anonymous user and just sign your name so we know who's leaving the comments. Ok, back to invites. I have no idea how long it will take, and we have to make sure the font we want is available on their computer or download it or something, which Eric knows how to do, so I'm forseeing a lot of work but I'm still excited because this is obviously one of the most important things we have to do! We won't address or send the invites til next weekend, largely because we won't have time, but that puts us right on schedule for when we wanted to get them sent out. That's one of the few things that we'd be on schedule for. Which reminds me-I have a question for Matt/Laura and Gina/Josh-what time did you guys do dinner at? I don't know when to schedule it for because the lady at Greenhave is out of the office until next week but we're printing the invites this weekend, so I'm not sure if we should just pick a time or just say "reception to follow" and let people figure that out themselves? What do you think? I'd say aside from that we have it all figured out (at least with the invites) but we definitely don't which is kindof scary since we want to print them soon but won't even be together to discuss it until Friday! At least we have a general idea since we talked about it a long time ago. We just haven't gotten back to it to work out the kinks of the wording and the typing and times and directions and whatnot. So basically all the details. No pressure or anything.

They turned blue, what could I do?
She had a beard, and it felt weird.
My friends all laughed, usta.
