Ah, Life
These are my bridesmaids wearing their wonderful dresses that it only took us 1/2 an hour to pick out! I was so surprised, but very happy. They're being ordered and will be here by November. Everybody looks great in them and likes them, which is the most important. Yay for my beautiful bridesmaids! On another wedding note, Eric and I picked up our unity candle at the Renaissance Festival today. It is perfect, just what we wanted. It looks great, and now we just need 2 plain white candle sticks to light it with. We can get those anywhere, so we're not really concerned about it.I feel like I should write about something deep, especially since there's a few things that have been on my mind. One is sortof a response to something in Matt's blog. It's actully come up a few times in the past couple months, so it's almost ironic that he wrote about it. That's the communion for non-Catholics thing. My main problem with it is not that they shouldn't be part of the community and that they should be excluded (I do not think anyone has a right to refuse anyone else communion, no one should sit in judgment of someone else's moral state or religious beliefs), my problem is that by not believing that the bread and wine is the Body and Blood of Jesus, they cannot fully understand what they are receiving and cannot act in accordance with that. It's a perplexing issue that I haven't fully come to a good conclusion on, especially because I want to be inclusive and community oriented, but I also want anyone who gets communion, whether Catholic or not, to be prepared for what they receive and act accordingly. Other things that I've been having difficulties with are just being able to express myself and what I really think without being seen as a bigot or closeminded or anything like that. I often feel like I can't really express what I want to, especially in classes or around certain people. It's very annoying and somewhat disheartening, especially at a place that prides itself on diversity and respect for all people and for all different views. I feel that that idea here is somewhat hypocritical because a lot of the time certain views aren't allowed to be expressed, or at least you get the feeling that you better not say something because it's not just the minority view but completely wrong. It's not even that people have the opinion that that particular view is wrong-it's almost as though everyone takes it for granted that it's true and so it's not even up for discussion or debate because it's already been decided that it's wrong. It's so frustrating. And I don't want to make a fuss about itThe only certain thing in life is death
A long time....for a lot of things
The reason that's the title for my blog is because not only have I not blogged in awhile, I haven't done homework all weekend, and the thing that I haven't done for the longest amount of time is wedding planning. Seriously, since the last blog I wrote about buying wedding invites, we haven't done any other weddng planning/purchasing/serious preparing. It's sortof depressing since I'm so excited to do anything involved with the wedding! I guess I exaggerate-last weekend we ordered our unity candle from the Renaissance Festival (not the festival itself, a vendor at the festival) and we're picking it up this weekend. Other than that, nada. However, I have a feeling this purchase is going to start a chain of wedding events, since we already decided we need to talk about a few things, which I hope will lead to planning a few things, buying a few things, deciding a few things, you get the picture. The biggest wedding plan I foresee is coming up hopefully this weekend. I'm trying to get all my bridesmaids together to go shopping for their dresses! I hope Theresa can come down from Morris, because Erica will be around (we run at the same meet at the U this weekend), Gina is obviously around (only 10 minutes from me!) and Maria and Anna are close too, so I really hope this works out! We sortof need to go soon since one of my bridesmaids is going to get really fat really soon and then she won't be able to order the right dress size! Even though I obviously won't be wearing these dresses, I'm still really excited to go and find the perfect dress for my wonderful bridesmaids to wear!I could make a dress a robe fit for a prince
Allergies and Refrigerators
It's the start of the new school year again (oh goody). Actually, I've had classes since Wednesday, but I've been too busy to write a new blog. And this one isn't even about classes. It's about the fact that I'm pretty sure I've developed allergies, and they make me feel like crap. They affect my running, they make my throat itch like crazy which is the worst because you can't do anything about it!, they've given me sores on my nose because I've had to blow my nose so many times. It's pretty much awful. Benadryl is my best friend these days. It doesn't usually make me tired if I take it early in the day, but in the evenings or if I'm already tired, it wipes me out. Which is why on Monday I have a doctor appt. Hopefully he'll just prescribe me some non drowsy really strong allergy medicine. I sure hope so because this really sucks. On another note, I wake up this morning to find a not on my fridge "you left the fridge open all night so everything was warm this morning. Not sure if anything is good anymore". Well crap. I used my milk for breakfast anyway, since it hadn't been opened yet I figured it might still be ok and I didn't want to waste an entire carton. Luckily, God was on my side and it wasn't bad. The sad part is, I honestly do not even remember opening up the fridge last night. I had no reason to. Which makes me feel stupid. Ah, life. Take a drink of milk but the milk's gone sour My funny face makes you laughTwist the top on and i put it back
