Update on Life

Since I really don't know what to blog about, I'll just give a quick update on what's going on in my life. Some of this may not be news to anybody, but like I said, I don't have anything else to blog about.

In a couple of weeks I am quitting Partylite. I've only been a consultant for about 5 1/2 months, but it has not been fruitful and it's been a little more work than I can handle, with a real job and school taking up so much of my time. I've enjoyed selling candles, for the most part, but I'm throwing in the towel. I've never been a quitter, but I don't really care. Plus, I don't really see this as quitting because I went into it with the idea that I would try it out and see how it goes, and it was never something I wanted to do permanently anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me that I am quitting.

School has been going well, for the most part. I had a 5 day weekend which was wonderful and allowed me to get a bigger start on my research papers that are all due at the end of the semester, only 5 weeks away. It helped me narrow down/refine my topics and I was able to figure out just exactly what I need to do in order to be able to write my papers. Hopefully I won't find myself in the same place with these papers as I was last semester, which was going crazy by the end of the semester because I procrastinated a little more than I normally do and wasn't really prepared to write so many large papers. This time I'm definitely more prepared and on top of the game. My classes are going well too. I have Pauline Epistles, New Testament, and Patristics, so a lot of bible/early church, both of which I really like. And my professors are great. I also have one class where I am one of only 4 students (about 1/4 of the class) who doesn't have a collar, and one of only 2 women, so it's a unique experience. I'm still fairly fresh off of my St. Kate's experience and this year has been quite the adjustment having all of my classes with men, and many seminarians at that.

Eric and I are taking yet another trip, albeit a much smaller one. We're looking forward to going to Las Vegas with the married couples of the family. It promises to be a fantastic trip, if we could ever book it...the ticket prices need to stop wavering and just come down already! Eric's also still in the process of getting a full-time job, but the prospects are looking much better and he'll hopefully have something soon.

That's about it for my life right now. Enjoying it, trying not to get too stressed out about the little things, and finding time for myself and for Eric and I to spend some time together amid all of the things we have to do!

5 Days

I am amazed. I get a 5-day weekend for the Triduum and Easter. Go Catholic school. Although, when I went to St. Kate's we only got Good Friday and Easter Monday off, not Holy Thursday. Not even the night classes. Only class I ever "skipped" was on Holy Thursday. My professor was Catholic and everything, she just didn't think it was important enough to cancel class for I guess. Which is silly. What's more important than the Triduum? Certainly not that class, I can tell you that much! It wasn't even a good class, and she was an adjunct professor. Not a very good one at that. Nice woman, bad at teaching. Ironically, without realizing it I checked out one of her books for one of my papers. I only needed it as a supplement, referential source, but once I saw the name it hit me that I had her as a professor. It's actually not the first time I've had a professor whose book I've used (not in the class itself, because profs do that a lot), so that's kind of cool. At least it would be if she had been a better teacher.

To sum up: no school (or work for that matter, since I work at a Catholic church) until Tuesday. Awesome. Even with all the research and other things I have going on, it's still nice to have 5 days of relatively stress free activity. Plus, it's finally getting nice enough to be outside without a hat and mittens, which means I can start running again! I have a few times in the past few weeks, including today, but now I'm going to be able to make it a regular activity, which makes me very happy. I've always loved running, and since I haven't done cross country for about 2 years now, I miss it a lot more than usual and can't wait to get back at it.
